Image-Guided Radiation Therapy and Stereotactic Applications
The Stanford Cancer Center is one of the first in the world to use a new device used in cancer radiation treatments, specifically for image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and image-guided radio surgery (IGRS) to treat tumors without damaging surrounding heathy tissues.
The versatile TrilogyTM system can be used to deliver the following for cancer and neurosurgical treatments:
- 3D conformal radiotherapy
- IMRT
- stereotactic radiosurgery
- fractionated stereotactic radiation therapy
- intensity-modulated radiosurgery
Trilogy enables doctors to choose and use the most appropriate treatment modality for treating cancer in the body or the head and neck, and to deliver the full spectrum of treatments, all on one machine in a single room. Trilogy allows for the delivery of higher doses of radiation to smaller areas over a shorter period of time.
